Kettering by the Sea is making a splash again this year, bringing you a taste of the traditional British seaside combined with a host of free activities every week for a month on Mondays through to Saturdays.

Kettering by the Sea, Kettering Marketplace:

Kettering by the Sea is making a splash again this year on the Market Place, bringing you a taste of the traditional British seaside combined with a host of free activities every week for a month on Mondays through to Saturdays.

Don\’t miss the annual Summer Sticker Trail too! The trail route can be picked up at the Kettering Museum and Gallery Tuesdays – Saturdays from 10am until 4pm. Complete the trail around the town, claim your treat and be entered into the prize draw!

*FREE* Summer Playscheme\’s around Geddington, Broughton, Wilbarston, Burton Latimer, Rothwell, Desborough and Mawsley are also available throughout the event, showcasing the Jack and the Beanstalk performance from the Looking Glass Theatre and Steve the Magician magic show. Summer Holiday Crafts
Summer Holiday Crafts, Manor House Museum:

Join the Manor House Museum for a fun-packed programme of children\’s activities for the summer holidays! Perfect for children aged 3+ from Thursday 25th July – Saturday 31st August.

There will be different craft sessions available every day with the opportunity for your little ones to learn new skills and express their creative talents.

Join us on the Marketplace every Wednesday during the summer half-term for a range of *FREE* things to do for all the children.

The New for 2019 Play Days comprises a number of summer activities, including: Short Story Theatre, Sports Day, Animal Magic, Family Fun Circus and more!

Build your team and compete in football, basketball or dodgeball at the end of summer tournament to be crowned Kettering Street Sports champions!

Pacesetter Summer Holiday Sports Clubs, Montsaye Community Sports Centre:

Pacesetter offers a fantastic holiday club for your children of primary and Year 7 ages at Montsaye Community Sports Centre from Thursday 25th July – Wednesday 28th August.

They hold the clubs in a variety of different venues which all have both indoor and outdoor facilities so not even the weather can stop them from doing what they do best – sport!!

The core day runs from 9am until 4pm with a half day option available.

The extended day runs from 8:30am – 5pm.

Westlodge Farm Park offer an array of family-friendly activities throughout the Summer half-term, and a perfect way to spend quality time with your loved ones is to take part in one of the farm\’s family camping weekends!

The dates are as follows:

27th – 28th July and 3rd – 4th August.

Martial Arts Holiday Clubs
Martial Arts Holiday Club, East Northants Taekwondo Club:

The East Northants Taekwondo Club, on Northampton Rd Pavillion, is offering Taekwondo classes for children between 5-14 years old during the summer half-term!

All classes are suitable for both new and current students and begin at 9am, and finish 3:15pm, on the following dates in August:

Tuesday 13th – Thursday 15th, Tuesday 20th – Thursday 22nd and Tuesday 27th – Thursday 29th.

Summer Trail Winner

Kettering’s Market Place seaside extravaganza has proved to be a popular destination for another year, offering a number of free activities and events for families to enjoy over the summer season.

The 15 metre sandpit with 20 tonnes of sand, splash fountain and daily entertainment saw hundreds of families visiting the area to take part in activities such as: table tennis; hoop dance; West Lodge Farm animals; Punch and Judy; Science Workshops and so much more!

The Summer Trail was back again for Kettering by the Sea for 2018 and proved to be a family favourite with over 250 visitors taking part to be in with a chance to win the prize-draw! Congratulations to Lexie aged 9, who was our winner and won a bag full of prizes! Including: Lighthouse Theatre pantomime tickets; swimming pool vouchers; a Manor House Museum Golden Ticket and more!

Playschemes were all FREE and extended to two weeks around the Borough this year! Over 1300 people attended the family-friendly shows in: Geddington, Broughton, Wilbarston, Burton Latimer, Rothwell, Desborough and Mawsley.

Steve the Magician made a few appearances throughout the four weeks to entertain and amaze the children, while the Primary Workshop Science shows demonstrated some fantastical experiments with their mesmerising workshops.

The Manor House Museum and Alfred East Art Gallery hosted the Alice in the Garden fun packed programme to celebrate National Playday! The sunshine brought over 300 visitors to participated in the Tea Party themed event with FREE face painting, craft activities, balloon modelling and decorating treats!

Some of the activities were hosted by local companies, making Kettering by the Sea a great platform for them to promote their work and get involved with the community.

Special thanks to The Yards, Wicksteed Park, The Lighthouse Theatre, Legacy Leisure and the Manor House Museum and Alfred East Art Gallery.

Cat, Mum of 9-year-old Summer Trail winner, Lexie, said: “We really enjoyed doing the Summer Sticker Trail and afterwards we spent the afternoon at Kettering by the Sea. Such amazing free activities for all the community to enjoy. Thank you!”

Jane, who visited Kettering by the Sea, said: “The staff and environment of the beach has been superb this year. The kids have loved it!”

Councillor Scott Edwards, Kettering Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community and Leisure, said: “Once again Kettering by the Sea has been a fantastic success, drawing thousands of people into the town centre to enjoy a host of free activities. Once more we have brought a taste of the seaside into the heart of the country for all to enjoy, this community event has been the ideal way to spend some of our summer holiday. We are extremely grateful for everyone who helped make it memorable.”

Guy Holloway, Head of Corporate and Cultural Services at Kettering Borough Council, said: “Kettering by the Sea always provides a good opportunity to bring the community together and create a lovely atmosphere that can be enjoyed by all. The range of activities meant that there was something for everyone and it was great to see all the children having so much fun. Work is already underway for the next lot of festivities, so definitely keep an eye out for the details.”
