Once in Kettering you could take the 19 bus (Operated by stagecoach) which operates between Rothwell and Desborough (and once an hour to Corby). Buses typically run every 20 minutes during the day and every hour in the evening from around 06:00 to 22:00 daily (with a reduced service Sundays). This is a great chance to take in the sights of Rothwell and Desborough on your visit and journeys only take around 20 minutes.
You can ask the driver for a Stagecoach Gold which costs around £9 for the days travel which covers travel within Northamptonshire, or Stagecoach Platinum for around £12 which will cover you to Milton Keynes and Peterborough and Bedford and some other destinations.
Also if you are traveling by train you could consider adding a plus bus (for sometimes only £1 more) to your train ticket which will give you a bus journey from the train station to the town centre.
